Faux Brads for your Birthday

This is for today's Treehouse Thursday's Challenge presented by Gloria from the Design Team. Gloria has challenged everyone to use some type of FAUX technique and create a birthday card.
I decided to use a set that is to be released May 6th called BIRD NOTES from TREEHOUSE STAMPS DIGITAL LINE. I love this darling bird perch on a limb image. I used some dp from DCWV Glitter Mat Pack. My image was colored with copics. I used some yellow polka dotted ribbon. My faux brads were made by punching some orange paper with my crop-a-dile large hole punch then attaching a pop dot under them and placing one in all 4 corners. I hope you like it. Come on play along with the rest of the design team and create something Faux. Then provide a link in Mister Linky on the Treehouse Blog site so we can check out what you come up with.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Bird Notes, Treehouse Stamps Digital Line
Paper: white, baja breeze, DCWV Glitter Mat Stack
Accessories: copics, dimensionals, stickles

Jessie's day off

Winds and waves will never stop Jessie from fishing. When he can not go to the flats/coast fishing in his boat, he just walks out to our backyard and drops a line in our pond.

He came in yelling get the camera and get out here.

This is what I found when I got out there. This catfish weighed out at 14.5 lbs

He had such a got time telling me what a hard time he had getting this lockness monster on the bank. His eyes were glowing, he is like a big kid when he catches fish. I love him so much.

Out of the Box Princess and Frog

This is for today's SKETCH CHALLENGE # 278.
Yep that's right, only 1 challenge today. My head hurts too bad to search and figure out how to combine. I think Pam did her voodoo and removed Mercy's headache by sending it to me. LOL. Just kiding she would never send me bad voodoo (I hope) :-0
Anyway I used an image that I have had colored since Shannon's last play time visit with me. I colored the image using the colors in the dp and just needed a good challenge to put it with. I had to trim the immage out of the box to make it work but that was better than trying to start from scratch. I also wanted to get to work early so I could leave early today. I found some cs scraps to matt and make my base with from my huge stack of "I can't throw that away, I might need it" stash. LOL. I bet I am the only one who does that. I used copics for coloring and attached 2 gems on her crown for bling. Hope you like it.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Princess and Frog - TGF
Paper: white, olive, blue, MME dp
Accessories: copics, dimensionals, gems
Techniques: copic coloring, 3D, digi's, out of the box

Sadie's Curvy Verses In Full Bloom

This is for today's COLOR CHALLENGE # 268 - Old Banana Ballet combined with today's MOTHER MARKS TEAPOT TUESDAY CHALLENGE # 91 -Sady, My Lady. I love that darling teapot with all of those lovely daisies. So cute. My layout is from today's MERCY'S TUESDAY SKETCH CHALLENGE # 71. I decided to begin with a white base. dark brown matt with barely banana cs. I found some dp that I had never even opened :-0 how can I keep doing that? Anyway my focal image is from Stampin' Up's In Full Bloom that I masked to stamp the leaf and stem image in place. I did, I actually did ink to rubber today. LOL. I have been hung up on digi's lately. Anyway I stamped the flower a 2nd time and colored all images with copics. I cut out 1 of the flowers and popped it up. I punched the bee out with a 1 inch punch and then ran my choc chip marker around the edge of the circle for a faux matt. I just had to add some stickles. My sentiment is stamped in ballet blue. I made a ribbon slit and ran my ribbon through it then tied a bow. Hope you like it and I really hope Sadie likes it.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Curvy Verses, In Full Bloom - Stampin Up
Paper: white, barely banana, old olive, choc chip

More or Less Spring

This is for today's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 270 = Ramp It Up or down in this case, LOL. Those of you who know me know I am not about multi layered cards. I pile on the challenges not the layers, LOL. Anyway I chose to revamp my FRAMED SNEEK PEAK OF SPRING and scale it down. It was just too busy and not one of my favorites. I did add the cuttlebug Stylezed Flowers to the yellow base and changed the orientation of the card. Added some orange dotted ribbon to cover the dp seam and for SUNDAYS WITH CRISSY CHALLENGE # 2 - Dots. I removed the bug layer and the metal tag and placed the butterfly on the edge of the focal panel. I added some stickles just because I can not believe I did not add it to begin with. I LOVE me some stickles. My focal image is a digital image from TREEHOUSE STAMPS DIGITAL LINE called Hello Spring. Now I am very happy with this. Hope you are too.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Hello Spring - Treehouse Stamps Digital
Paper: yellow, orange, MME dp

A CASE Of Clowning Around

This is for today's FEATURED STAMPER # 168 - GloriousGreetings AKA Gloria. Congratulations on being in the spotlight Gloria. I chose to CASE her PATCHPAL SCARECROW card. I changed the layout, colors and image from scarecrow to Clown.
I am also CASEing Mercy's LEO THE LION for Saturday's CRAZY 4 CHALLENGES # 34 - CASE. I love the simple layout with dp and the large image.
It is very close to today's SKETCH SATURDAY CHALLENGE # 100 so I used it as well. I added some ribbon and paper pierced around my focal image mat rather than on the dp. I also used dotted dp but large colored dots. The paper piercing was also for Monday's TECHNQIUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 269 - Paper Piercing. The layered primas in the right upper corner are for Saturday's OUR CREATIVE CORNER CHALLENGE - Blooming Blossoms. The various colors were inspired by the dp but also Saturday's INSPIRATION CHALLENGE # 229 -Green Rainbow where I found this darling NUMBER SNAIL PUZZLE. This darling dp is some Shannon shared with me recently. I am trying to make sure I use it or she might borrow it back. LOL. I think the image is a High Hopes image but not sure. Colored with copics that I am sure of. Have a wonderful Sunday. We have heavy rains going on right now which are much needed.
RECIPE:

Stamps: High Hopes Clown
Paper: white, MME dp, blue, orange cs

Inspired Spring Wishes

Well it is Thursday and that means it is time for another challenge. Today's is TREEHOUSE THURSDAY CHALLENGE # 046 - Inspiration. This week Ashley has provided us with a gorgeous photo for inspiration. I love the colors and flowers in this photo. I used 2 digital sets from TREEHOUSE STAMPS called Hello Friend and Spring is in the Air. I placed the flowers and stem images randomly then colored them with copic markers E07, E08, E09, Y00, Y11, Y13, YG93 & YG95. I used my color spritzer tool for the 1st time in awhile. My base is dusty durango and the sentiment is matted on old olive.
Not at all happy with my 1st attempt at this inspirational challenge I had to do another and this one I like MUCH better. I found some dp that I liked the flowers leaves and designs on that sorta go along with the flowers and vines on the linen. My focal image is from Hugs and Stitches and is colored also with copics then stickles applied for some bling. I used some yellow ribbon and attached some primas topped off with a button on the side. I attached a button to the flower center as well. My focal image is popped up. I love how this one turned out. Now it is your turn. Make sure to link your creation to the Mr.Linky over at Treehouse Stamps Blog and include THT046 in your keyword/tags when you upload to a gallery so we can find you.

Heartfelt Mother's Day

This is for today's SKETCH CHALLENGE # 277. For my color combo I used Tuesday's COLOR CHALLENGE # 267 - Basic Appealing Shadows. What a fun sketch this was for today. I used a digital flower from a set called "Simply Heartfelt" that is due for release tonight at midnight from TREEHOUSE STAMPS DIGITAL LINE. My dragon fly is from a digital set called "Ashley's Doodles". I used GIMP to manipulate my images. The dragon fly was added to the flower image and also printed out separately, colored, cut out and popped up. That small dot in the center of the wings was just the right size for the small pop dots I have. YEAH. I used my spica glitter pen to trace around the swirls and the veins of the leaves after coloring with copics. This image is just so pretty to me. Apricot Appeal base for panel 1, panel 2 is some My Minds Eye dp matted on basic gray cs, a strip of sage shadow topped with apricot appeal ribbon and the sentiment layer for panel 3 and my focal image is matted on apricot appeal then popped up on some sage shadow. I love how this turned out.
Here is a close up look of the flower image panel.

Stamps: Simply Heartfelt, Ashley's Doodles, Treehouse Stamps Digitals
Paper: white, apricot appeal, sage shadow, basic gray
Accessories: copics, ribbon, dimensionals, spica glitter pen

Congrats Grad Sneak Peek

This is for today's COLOR CHALLENGE # 267 - Basic Appealing Shadows. I almost had this card finished when I saw the color challenge, eeek they work. The colors of the school where we live are gold and black. I had a really hard time matching Sage Shadow which is why I use it the least. The line of paper piercing on the sentiment layer is for Monday's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 269 - Paper Piercing. My layout is from Sunday's SWEET SUNDAY SKETCH CHALLENGE # 65. This image and sentiment are part of a digital set called "CONGRATS GRAD" that will be released this Wednesday from TREEHOUSE STAMPS DIGITAL LINE. My dp is some I have had for eons and can not remember the name, sorry. I cut the hat and diploma image out and popped it up on the gold circle matted on black. We spent Sunday at the beach with Shannon and her crew so I missed out on Sunday's FEATURED STAMPER # 167 - Dara but it is never too late is it. Congrats Dara. I loved the layout on her PINK, ROSE, BURGANDY HEART. I changed from flowers to tools, the colors to black, brown and white, eyelets on the edge to brads in the corners and added the paper piercing. This is a digital set soon to be released from TREEHOUSE STAMPS DIGITAL LINE. I love this set and I love how this turned out. Hope you do too. Mother's Day Bookmark

This is for today's FREE 4 ALL CHALLENGE # 8 - Out of the box and Embossed, Thursday's TREEHOUSE THURSDAY CHALLENGE #045 - Decophage/Paper Tole, Wednesday's SKETCH CHALLENGE # 276, Tuesday's COLOR CHALLENGE # 266 - Blushing Coral Rubies, and Monday's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 268 - Save the Page. Whey. I think I got 1 for every day of this week. LOL. I made this for Shannon's kids to give to her for Mother's Day. She has 3 so thus 3 small birds telling her what a "tweet" Mom she is. I created the sentiment myself, the birds are from a digital set called "Little Tweety" from TREEHOUSE STAMPS DIGITAL LINE. The birds were lined up then cut with my new Large Oval Nestie leaving the oval sentiment out of the box. I left the nestie in place and airbrushed some yellow around the frame edge. The birds were then colored with copics. I punched some circles for each bird then cut out some wings for each one, colored those and popped them up. My blush blossom base is stamped with an image from Fresh Fillers with ruby red ink. My bookmark is frrom dp from SU that I just had to have and this is the 1st time I used it. Razzberry Tart? I think is the name of it and it is matted on cameo coral with some white ribbon colored with cameo coral ink to match. A brass groumet for the ribbon holder and when pulled this section of the sketch then convienently slides right out for use as a bookmark. Shannon loves to read books especially while relaxing at the beach so I hope she likes this. This line up of birds reminds me of The Partridge Family and now that tune is in my head. Grrr. I also hate when I am almost finished with something and mess up, I am already later for work than I want to be and I turned my focal panel upside down to apply adhesive and guess there was a small piece of the 2 sided tape I used to hold my mask in place for Airbrushing and it took some of the top layer off my sentiment. GGGGRRRR. I will redo that portion before giving this to Shannon for sure.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Fresh Fillers - SU, Little Tweety - THS Digital
Paper: whtie, blush blossom, cameo coral, Razzberry Tart
Ink: ruby red, cameo coral
Accessories: dimensionals, Nesties, copics, groumet, ribbon
Techniques: Paper Tole, Decophage, Copic Coloring, Bookmark, Out of the Box Embossing, Airbrushing.

Yummy Strawberry Short Cake

If I could have only 1 dessert in my life this is what I would request. I love strawberries and while last winter's weather was said to take it's tole on the crop there is no shortage around in this area. The problem is some berries are juicy and sweet and some are just juicy, YUK so I sweeten the pot. LOL. This is my idea of a short cake light dessert.
RECIPE:
WHITE portion
1 80z pack light cream cheese
1 8oz bowl light cool whip
1/2 cup of sugar or substitute
RED Portion
1 package fresh strawberries sliced thin (slice 6 in half for top garnish)
1 package strawberry glaze (light if available
2 package sugar free strawberry jello prepared by directions on box
CAKE Portion
1 Angel Food Cake torn in bite size pieces

Whip the cream cheese, cool whip and sugar until smooth and set aside.
Keep an eye on the strawberry jello and remove from fridge in semijelled condition then fold in glaze and thin slices of berries.

In bowl begin with 1/2 of the Cake pieces on the bottom layer topped with 1/2 of the RED Portion topped with 1/2 of the WHITE Portion spread evenly then begin the layers again. Top with the berries sliced in half for garnishment, chill and serve in LARGE BOWLS. LOL. Awe there is just nothing like this dessert on a warm spring or summer day. I make at least 2 of these every year and this one is going to work today. Before I take it though I realized I have never taken a picture of this and not only is it delicious I think it is so pretty so make one for your family and enjoy.

Shelled Birthday Bookmark

This is for today's SKETCH CHALLENGE # 276. For my color combo I used Tuesday's COLOR CHALLENGE # 266 - Blushing Coral Rubies which I had the pleasure of helping Betty out with. When I 1st saw the sketch this morning the 1st thing I thought of was how perfect panel # 3 would be holding panel # 2 in place which would be an added treat, a bookmark, so this is also for Monday's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE - Save the Page. I tried again to tie a really pretty bow for Saturday's OUR CREATIVE CORNER CHALLENGE - Bows. I distressed panel 3 which is cameo coral with cameo coral ink using sponges for ALL THAT SCRAPS WEEKLY WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE - Distressing, and my words of encouragement to have a snappy bday are for FOR FUN CHALLENGE - Encouragement. This darling image is from the digital line of images called "SHELLED FRIENDS" from TREEHOUSE STAMPS and I love this little crab. He is just too cute. Oh Happy Day

Oh My Oh My was I doin’ the happy dance Sunday night when I got a PM from Betty asking if I would like to provide a sample for this weeks color challenge. After I picked myself up from the floor I pm’d back with a hesitating (NOT) YES, OH YES. So this is for today's COLOR CHALLENGE # 266 – Blushing Coral Rubies. I love these colors together. Betty is paying tribute to retiring SU colors. I really hate to see these go since they are some of my favorite colors but I still have paper, pens, re-inkers so I will use them until they are gone. LOL.

I decided to use a set I bought from The Greeting Farm called “Oh Happy Day”. This little girl just tickles my funny bone with her all frocked up and no where to go. She reminds me of Madison (Shannon’s # 2 child) who loves to dress up and act like a GLAMORE GAL! Such a drama queen that one, but loved by all. I stamped my image in tuxedo Memento ink then colored with copics E30, E31, E33, E34, E35, E37, E80, E51, E53, R20, R21, R22, R24, R27, Y11, & Y13. After coloring I trimmed around the hair and edge then used Nesties circle and trimmed and embossed. My matt is from Labels 3 in ruby red cs. My card base is cameo coral with Background basics Star block stamped in creamy caramel. I did some shading around the image with C1 and C3 then airbrushed with Y11. A strip of creamy caramel on the right side topped with blush blossom ribbon tied with gold cord through a button for accent. I wish I could tie bows like Betty. Maybe one day she will teach me her secret.

I hope you like my sample and hope you play along with todays color combo. Happy Stampin’ All.

Praise Him Bookmark Card for FIL

This is for today's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 268 - Save the Page. Can you believe this is for just 1 challenge, LOL. That is what happens when the phone rings at 7am with one of those "we need you right now" calls. Oh well, I had this bookmark made for awhile just no idea what I wanted to do with it until today. Thanks Holly for the kick in the behind. I used some dark brown cs and my Cuttlebug Fleu De Lis Embossing folder after trimming with my brand new Nestie Large Oval Scallop, The white card base was also cut with the Large Oval so that you could see the bookmark inside the card which is held inside with a strip of the outside cs. Here is a close up picture of the bookmark. My bookmark was made with a stamp set from Clear and Simple called "Praise Him". The sentiment is stamped in close to cocoa and the cross in creamy caramel. I also sponged around the corners and sides to soften the white. I made this for my Father In Law and now it is complete and ready to give him in June. Whoo Hoo thanks again Holly. I hope he likes it.

THT044 Ashley's Angled Doodles

Well it's Thursday and that means it is time for another TREEHOUSE THURSDAY CHALLENGE. This week the featured DT member is Anne Harmon (the RED lover). LOL. I love to tease Anne about her love for red. She really thinks there is no other color but today she has fooled me. She choose the challenge for today and picked a COLOR CHALLENGE - Yellow, Lavendar, and a Neutral. WHAT? Are you kiding me and I had my red inks ready ! GASP!! I guess she was just in a spring mood when she picked these darling colors huh? Anyway, I quickly went to work before she could change her mind. I used a brand new just released today digital set from TREEHOUSE STAMPS called "ASHLEY'S DOODLES" for this. I printed out this darling cup image in a small image and then a larger one after adding the flower to the center by using GIMP photo editing (love it). They were both colored with copics G21, G24, V12, V15, V17, Y21, Y23, and Y26. I lined the smaller image up on my cs before printing to allow for 3 3/4 X 5 1/4 size so I could decorate the inside of my card too. Trying to keep that promise to myself. Anway the larger cup was trimmed then embossed with Nesties Labels 2 as well as the matt. I used crushed curry and lavendar lace cs and Basic Gray's Sugar Rush dp. I have my focal image and matt at an angle so it is fits today's WAYS TO USE IT CHALLENGE # 265 - Angled Interest. I Love how this turned out. I hope you do too. Come on and play along with us. Coloring Easter Eggs

Are these eggs cute or what? I have not colored eggs in a while. I had such a fun time coloring these and then decorating them. Our 7 grandchildren are headed over tomorrow afternoon for an egg hunt. I have these 12 real eggs, 12 large prize eggs, and 40 small prize eggs. I can not wait to see them try to find all of these. The last time we let them hunt eggs here at our house Jessie was still finding plastic eggs in August. LOL. Hope to have some great pics to share tomorrow night.

THT043 Blooming Spotlight

This is for today's TREEHOUSE THURSDAY CHALLENGE # 043 - Spotlight Technique. I love this technique, just need to use it more often. I used a digital floral image from TREEHOUSE STAMPS DIGITAL LINE called Blooming Blossoms. I printed it 2 times and colored only one then punched out the full flower image in the center. I punched a circle in black cs to matt my colored image on and placed it on the exact area of the image not colored. I used some dp and layered with blue bayou and used some blue bayou ribbon. Come on play along, just include THT043 in your keywords so we can see what you create.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Blooming Blossoms - Treehouse Stamps Digital Line
Paper: white, blue bayou, MME dp
Accessories: ribbon
Techniques: Spotlight Technique

Here is another card using the Spotlight technique. This time I used a digital image that Ashley has created for the April Contest at Treehouse Stamps. This darling cupcake was printed 2 times and colored 1. My dp is from Nook & Pantry dp pack matted on pink pirouette cs. I cut the focal image with a circle Nestie and the matt is from Labels 3. Both were embossed after cutting. I ran some pink ribbon across the dp then tied a piece of pink then red together.
