SC161 - Embrace Life

This is for today's SKETCH CHALLENGE. I got my 1st new order from the new catty. And Faith (aka:markie's mom) has made me have to buy Embrace Life.Ruby Red layer is stamped with versa mark. Ginger blossom layer is matted w/river rock. Panel 3 is a wide coral colored ribbon I picked up in the $1 bin at Michaels. One side has white lines & daisies, did not work but I turned it over and viola'. The flower was stamped with Groovy Guava then colored w/prismacolor pencils and blended w/gamsol. I found a flower embelishment that came close to ruby red, ran some hemp in the wholes and attached w/crystal effects. I hope you like it.

The yo yo yellow panel was pierced then going gray marker used to make the faux stitching. Sentiment stamped in Black. I used a black marker to make dots around the white circle. Basic Gray matted with Going Gray for the strip and yellow ribbon tied between the 2 tabs from Quickutz layered oval nameplate. Hope you like it.

Wishing You Well Inspiration Scraps

Tied a yellow ribbon and stamped the sentiment in basic black. Wishing You Well set is a retired SU set with no gallery to place it in. What a Week I'm Having

Sorry I have not had a post for the past 2 days. I had to be a work really early Thursday for a meeting and chased my behind all day long trying to get somewhere.
Today I was rudely awakened by the phone at 5am asking me to work our Med/Surg floor. Well to say "YES" was clearly the wrong choice, it was horrible.
I am in serious need of some quality time with my rubbah. LOL. My doctor has prescribe a minimal of 1 hr a day and I have missed now 2 days and what is worse is that I have new RUBBAH that has not gotten dirty yet. EEEEKKKKK what will I do!!
Hopefully I will be back in the swing again in the morning. DH wants to go out of town but if it is raining, I vote for Rubbah Therapy.
Have a wonderful weekend, just in case I can not get back on to post :(

GOOD NEWS:
Shannon finally got to take the class for substitute teaching Thursday and they called her to work that night so today was her very 1st day as a Substitute Teacher. I am so very very proud of her. I told her this morning that if it was any help to know when she and her sister, who is 6 yrs younger than she is, were little they were always playing school and she was always the teacher. They were so cute. Now that little girl has grown up to be a real teacher, I think I am going to cry.

Lovely Love Quotes

I made this for today's SKETCH CHALLENGE and Tuesdays' COLOR CHALLENGE. Unfortunately it will go to the family of a 10yr little girl who died suddenly. She is the niece of a fellow co-worker. Her father was killed in a car wreck when she was only a few weeks old. My heart just pours out to this family and their grief is so enormous. The trees were stamped in blue bayou on white and sponged with soft sky for clouds and just a hint of red. I did use a small amt of barely banana for the sun peeking through. These layers are matted on blue bayou and the base is blue bayou. Panel 2 is soft sky pattern print flourishes. The sentiment is from Close To My Heart "Love Quotes" and is stamped in blue bayou. I really do not like having to make sympathy cards but certainly not for a 10 yr's family.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Lovelly as a Tree, Love Quotes-CTMH
Paper: Blue Bayou, Soft Sky Pattern Paper, Whtie
Ink: blue bayou, soft sky, real red, barely banana
Accessories: ribbon
Techniques: sponging

Ethel & Handbag

I have been waithing for the right moment to get this new stamp from Rubbernecker dirty and today's color challenge seemed to be that moment. This is for today's REAL SOFT BAYOUColor Challenge and last weeks SKETCH CHALLENGE. The image is stamped in black Stazon then colored w/Prismacolor Pencils and blended w/gamsol.
When I saw the color challenge for today I knew exactly which stamp I wanted to use. I know you have seen those cute little old ladies that get their hair colored and it turns out blue? that over paint their lips with bright red lipstic and wear flashy colors that sometimes do not match well? I had an aunt that used to keep blue hair and I remember that from my childhood thinking how pretty it was. I have always loved blue, as a 50 yr old now I can say "WHAT WAS I THINKING!". I do still get a kick out of seeing them even though not too many blue haired ladies anymore, I still see the bright lipstick and mix matching. I added crystal effects to her glasses. I had one aunt that could slice pound cake thin enough you could see through it. She was not waisting anything. I think I inherited that trait. LOL. I ran the strip of real red left over from my mat cut through my paper crimper and used it as faux ribbon then tied a knot in rr and blue bayou stips. Hope you like it. I had fun making it even if it is 2am and I am suffering from insomnia.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Rubbernecker Ethel & Handbag, Strange & Wonderful
Paper: Blue Bayou, Soft Sky Pattern Paper, real red
Ink: blue bayou, black stazon
Accessories: paper crimper, crystal effects
Techniques: Gamsol Magic

Simply Said Short & Sweet Pocket Heart

Attmepting to redeem myself after my flop from yesturday and also retaining my "Queen of Combo" Throne. 4 in 1 here. 1. Today's LIMITED SUPPLY, 2. Thursday's WAYS TO USE IT -EMBOSSING, 3. Wednesday's SKETCH CHALLENGE, and 4. Monday's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE -POCKET HEART. Whey, what started out as a simple minded design got a little more detailed than desired. I stamped PolkaDot background in versamark on the red base and was not pleased so I covered it with pink stamped with dots & daisis. I used my white soufle pen to the center of daisies. I stamped the daisy heart in black stazon on wc paper and colored with my SU markers Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Real Red then matted that on red and popped it up inside the pink pocket heart. Attached the pocket heart to layer 3 panel. Faux stitching around that panel and the pocket heart. Whey, now I can go to work.lol

Bareback True Friend

Backing up and doing last weeks Ways To Use It -LEATHER since today's is not up yet and I have to go to work and I have to stamp before I can go to work, lol. I was sifting through my dp a few days ago and found this Paper Studio Buckskin Brown paper. Got mad bc last Thursday I wanted to do the challenge and did not think I had any so I am working on my NY's resolution to use what I have bought. I combined challenges and did another SKETCH CHALLENGE from this week.I finally made a cut in my Outlaw pack of paper from SU:( but sacrifices must be made for the good of stamping. I used a wonderful idea found on nitestamper's blog to make a ribbon flower. Tutorial found HERE for Part I and HERE for Part II. I have wanted to try this since I saw it and finally attempted it. Really cool looking. The help this card needs is:1. Leave the Ribbon Flower?2. Remove the Ribbon Flower to use on another day? What is your vote? As much as I like it I am not sure it fits on here. I tried placing it in several positions and this was the best I could do.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Bareback, True Friend
Paper: Outlaw, Paper Studio Buckskin Brown, Vanilla, Mellow Moss
Ink: Choc Chip, Mellow Moss
Accessories: Ribbon, paper punch

GREAT NEWS

Thanks to all of my cyber friends for hugs, thoughts and prayers today. We have wonderful news. Little Jaylen Kaleb or Kaleb Jaylen is probably going to be just a normal and healthy little boy somewhere mid May. The ultrasound looked great. Heart, brain, spine, kidneys, hands and feet all appear normal and he is so proud to be a male he had to show off. lol.

MFT Punny Farm & Prayer Request

This is for today's SKETCH CHALLENGE and Tuesday's ROSEY APPRICOT COLOR CHALLENGE. I just received this new set from MFT and had to get ink on it so why not use the challenges to do it.lol. FYI ss (appricot appeal) craft spots do NOT show well on rose red cs, just for those who may want to try this at home. lol.
I colored my main image with Prismacolor Pencils and blended w/gamsol. I wanted the pants a little darker so I went over them very lightly w/ the SU marker. I used silver for the pales. I applied a very tiny bling in the center of the flower on the hat, see my blog for a closer view. Panel 2 is appricot appeal stamped in black w/Chicken Wire after stamping the chickens in black stazon and masking. I colored small areas of the chickens then applied liquid applique and white fun flock. I colored some feed using the AA marker. The ribbon is from a stack of scrapbooking supplies I got last year from ABC Distributing. I could not believe how well it matched. The card base is sage shadow stamped w/ shade shadow using Aida Cloth

PRAYER REQUEST

My youngest daughter is expecting her 2nd and last child. She had a scary 1st delivery that ended up in a C-Secion 2 yrs ago and is calling it quits with this one. This one has been scary already. She has been really sick the entire time simular to what I was with her 24 yrs ago, (it was 24/7 for 9 1/2 months). I am taking her today for a Level II ultrasound to see if the docs can determine if or what risks this baby is at having Downs Syndrome. Her labs were elevated and this was one option next to Amniocentesis which she flat said NO to. Hates needles! So our prayer is for good news and/or strength but HIS love will carry us through.

Heart Shaped Sweet Talk / How Sweet It Is

This is for this months My Favorite Things GUEST DESIGNER Challenge. I will not get selected but I like playing along. The challenge was to create a project using any shape except square or rectangle and since I am still working on Valentines Cards I decided to go with a heart shaped project. I used my Fiskars heart Templates, folded a sheet of white CS in half and cut it out leaving the top part to hold the card together for opening. The Designer Paper is handmade by non other than e3stamper (aka Shannon) herself. She came over Sunday to play with her Mom and created this lovely sheet for me to use. The smaller hearts in the center are Quicktz layered hearts and I cut a slit then hand cut an arrow to insert. Stamped sentiment in Real red. I doodled around the base and small center heart with RR marker and the red heart layer with white jel pen.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Sweet Talk, Priceless
Ink: Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Black

I wanted to combine these with todays Ways to Use It but I do not have any leather or anything close to it so I had to settle for just a double hitter.lol. I may loose my Crown as Queen of the Challenge Combo's if I am not careful.Image is stamped in Timber Brown Stazon then colored w/Prismacolor Pencils and blended w/Gamsol. I stamped the large choc drop on the ottoman. I think she would want it that way. After all it is all about the chocolate isn't it?

Card base is barely banana stamped with the swirl from Priceless in blue bayou. Then I cut a thin layer of wasabi using my Fiskars scallop border edge. Clarabelle & Riley

No internet service when I woke up. UURRRGGG, so I could not see the SC for today. I wanted to stamp before work so I did another COLOR CHALLENGE. Needed to dirty up some new stamps anyway. This is an adorable image from High Hopes called Clarabelle & Riley. Stamped w/Black Stazon and colored w/Prisma Color Pencils then blended w/Gamsol and matted on real red. The background is called "Cow Spots Background" and stamped in black then matted on black. A thin red ribbon tied on the right then red ribbon knot and Taken w/teal and certainly celery paper knots (since I did not have any ribbon those colors had to sub).
This faux ribbon knot was something I learned from e3stamper (thanks Shannon). Trim a thin strip of card stock and run it between your fingernails or rub on edge of desk to make it more pliable, then tie in a knot using care when tightening. I love using this when I do not have the exact color matches.
RECIPE:
Stamps: High Hopes Clarabelle & Riley
Paper: real Red, certainly celery, taken w/teal, black, white
Ink: real red, black stazon
Accessories: ribbon, gamsol, blending stumps
Techniques: Gamsol Magic, Faux ribbon

Sweet Talkin' Bubble Love

This is for today's COLOR CHALLENGE. What fun colors to combine together. Not sure I was going to like them at first but they kinda grow on ya. The image is from High Hopes called Bubble Love and is stamped in black stazon then colored with SU Watercolor crayons and markers. My real red WC Crayon looks more like rose red so I went over it with the marker bc I really wanted a bright red look. I dabbed the floral image from Watercolor Minis in real red around the hill to look like the bubbles popped and left residue. The sentiments are from SU Sweet Talk and are stamped on white with real red then cut out and popped up. I am slowing working on my Valentine cards with these challenges.teehee. The card base is some DCWV Glitter Matstack I got in Oct at Hobby Lobby with the intentions of using for Christmas cards. Oh well I think this is the 2nd sheet of it I have used. I am so bad. I have to have all of this stuff then it sits. I hope everyone has a safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Sweet Talk, Watercolor Minis, HH Bubble Love
Paper: DCWV Glitter Matstack, Taken w/Teal, Watercolor paper
Ink: Real Red, Certainly Celery, Black Stazon
Accessories: Water color crayons and brushes, Bubble corner punch, Red Sheer Ribbon
Techniques: Watercoloring
