Joy To The World Grid

This is for today's TREEHOUSE THURSDAY CHALLENGE # 069 - Grid Technique. This is such a fun technique to do but my challenge was to do this with digital images. So to tackle this technique I choose this silhouette image from a set due to be released this Friday, Oct 1st from TREEHOUSE STAMPS DIGITAL LINE called "JOY TO THE WORLD" . I scored my grid lines with my score pal then used my white craft ink pad to swip across the top of the raised grid lines. I am happy with the results. I used some bashful blue cs and some grid lined light blue dp as my base then tied some sheer blue ribbon. Hope you like it. Now it is your turn to play along. Be sure to include THT069 in your keyword upload on SCS so we can see what you made. Also to be eligible for the random drawing be sure to follow the rules in the post HERE. Best Blossoms Thank You

This is for today's COLOR CHALLENGE # 290 - Basic Rose Delight and my dessert option is Old Olive. We could use any 1 extra color of our choice. Whoo Hoo. Great colors Betty.
My layout is from Monday's MONDAY MOJO SKETCH CHALLENGE # 158.
I also used Monday's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 292 - Stamping On Tissue. I used a favorite Stampin Up Stamp set called Best Blossoms for this. I stamped the leaf image in old olive once and then stamped again 2 more times without reinking on the
tissue. I adhered the tissue to some white cs then cut and embossed using my just received Nesties Label 11. WhooHoo I had happy mail when I got home Monday. Yeah! I also used my color spritzer tool with daffodil delight and sprayed around the edges then sprayed some glitter spray over all of the panel. I used some thin ribbon across the bottom and some gray ribbon on the side with a bow. I stamped the flower image in rose red on tissue adhered to white cs then cut and embossed with the smalled in Nesties Label 11, popped it up on the focal panel. I stamped the Thank You in rose red on daffodil delight then embossed the daffodil cs layer with cuttlebugs stylized flowers matted on rose red.
I just could NOT get a suitable picture so I am settling for these. Wheh I am done and off to work. Hope everyone has a fabulous day.

House of Haunts

OMGosh this is my 1000 post. so kewl. I cannot believe it. This is for today's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 292 - Stamping on Tissue. Thanks Joan for reminding me how much I love to do this. I have been stuck on digis so much I almost forgot how to put ink to paper. LOL.
My layout is today's CLEAN AND SIMPLE CHALLENGE # 86 - Sketch Inspired by cookiebaker. I love this layout and use it quite often when I am stumped so this fit right in.
My dp is Recollections halloween stack from the past. I love this and will be sorry when it is all used up. My image is from Stampin Up's House of Haunts. What a spooky looking old house. I stamped in black on white tissue, glued to some vanilla after coloring the moon and inside windows on the back side with a Y00 copic marker then sponged some Tea Time distressing ink around the edges to give it an aged look and tone down the white. My focal image is popped up on dimensionals. Here is a close up of my bat button. I hope you can see it but I made a bat button out of my Martha Stewart bat punch x 5 and glued together, topped it with my Spica glaze pen and threaded some yellowish hemp thru the button holes. Hope you like it. I wished now I had and probably will add a strip of pale plum or perfect plum on top of the black strip across so that the bat button shows up better. Oh well hind site is 20/20 right? LOL
RECIPE:
Stamps: House of Haunts - SU
Paper: black, Recollections
Ink: black, Tea Time distressing ink
Accessories: Martha Stewart Bat Punch, ribbon, hemp, dimensionals

Halloween Brigitta & Hansel

This is for today's FEATURED STAMPER # 190 - Hobbydujour. Congratulations Sallie. I chose to CASE her SUMMER STRAWBERRIES. I loved the layout and so I kept it, I used striped halloween dp, I put the button on the opposite side, I trimmed and embossed my focal image using Nesties Labels 12. I used my Fiskars bat scallopped border punch for Friday's FREE 4 ALL CHALLENGE # 31 - Scallops. I changed the theme to Halloween getting a heads up on my holiday cards for Thursday's WAYS TO USE IT CHALLENGE # 289 - Holiday Head Start. I just bought these digital images from CC Designs, the bench, Halloween Brigitta and Halloween Hansel. I could not wait to color them up. I used GIMP to manipulate them to have these 2 darling trick or treaters sitting on the bench. I love how they turned out. Now my colors were inspired by my brand new Echo Park Happy Halloween dp that Shannon brought over Saturday and shared with me. WE had such a great time coloring together.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Halloween Brigitta, Halloween Hansel, Bench - CC Designs
Paper: white, perfect plum, Echo Park Happy Halloween dp

Blast of a Fishing Trip

OK so I had a rough day at work Thursday and slept late Friday, my day off, which felt good until Jessie threw my fishing cap at me and said "come on we're burning daylight". Growl, snarl, snarl. I just wanted to relax and unwind to get over Thursday, but like a good trouper I get dressed and off we went. I do love fishing and mostly I love being with my darling wonderful husband so I knew even if the fish did not bite the day was not going to be a totally loss. To our surprise the trout were there and hungry. We must have caught 50 throw backs that were too small. We caught tons of bait fish and some big enough that he wanted to bring home to cook for his mom who loves small fish cooked too pieces. LOL.
She should love these 3 little guys. Just when we were getting ready to leave I turned around with a mouth full of water and all I could do was grunt and point to his rod that was bent all the way over. He grabbed it and the fight was on. 20min later this is what I netted for him. A 28 inch Red weighing in at 12 lb. Unfortunately being 28 inches makes it too long to keep with a slot of 17-27 inches. We got some pics, he kissed it and sent it back to reproduce and live to fight another day. What was funny is that as soon as Jessie got his rod and started his fight my line started peeling off and with rod bent I grabbed mine and here we go. Jessie was having to go from the front to the back of the boat to follow his while I was just trying to regain some line and hoping that I did not run out of line before whatever I had on ran out of steam. I was laughing and reeling at the same time. Jessie's fish got in view and we could see gold so we knew what his was and I could not believe my eyes when my fish got to the surface and we realized I had a red as well. Man I was happy. He kept saying "and you didn't want to come". Jessie was busy fighting his monster so I had to net mine when it got close enough. This was on the end of my line. Whoo Hoo. Was I happy that it was 22 inches and within legal limits. He is going home with us.
What a day on the water. It was fabulous.

THT068 Snowflake Covered Pecans for A Teacher

Yep it is Thursday again and time for another fantastic TREEHOUSE THURSDAY CHALLENGE. This week is # 068 - For A Teacher. I really struggled with this challenge but I guess that is why they are called CHALLENGES, huh? Anyway my 2 girls have been out of school for quite some time but now one of them is back in school with pre-k children so she is my teacher that I made something for. Shannon loves pecans almost as much as I do so I covered her a can of them but shhhh don't tell her. LOL.This is also for Monday's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 291 - Tag You're It. I made a tag to go along with my gift. For my base I used some dark blue cs around the can and then cut a circle for the top as well. The snowflake images are from a new set due to be released Oct 1st called Wonder of Christmas. I used the cluster image to go around the can. The tag was made using one of the single snowflake images, a sentiment from that same set and the tag itself is from BEARY BIRTHDAY digital set. I am not sure I am overly impressed with this attempt at this challenge but after 2 strike outs this one had to do. I have to get to bed so I can work tomorrow. All digital images are from TREEHOUSE STAMPS DIGITAL LINE.
This is also for today's WAYS TO USE IT CHALLENGE # 289 - Holiday Headstart. Well I have that covered since I am getting ahead of the game on making altered gift items to go with the Christmas cards. I love to hand deliver these type of gifts just to see their faces when they discover what is inside or under the paper.
Now don't forget to check out what the rest of the DT has created, theres are so much better. Then you create something and show me up, I am sure you can do that. Be sure to provide a link from your direct post to the TREEHOUSE THURSDAY CHALLENGE # 068 post so we can check out what you came up with.

Wonder & Joy of Christmas Sneak Peeks

This is for today's SKETCH CHALLENGE # 299. Karen I am sorry but I had to take a few liberties with this one to allow my images. HOpe that is OK. I used Tuesday's COLOR CHALLENGE # 289 - Baja Cajun Wasabies for my color combo and included Monday's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 291 - Tag You're It as a bookmark for panel 4.
My images are from 2 digital sets that will be available on Oct 1st from TREEHOUSE STAMPS DIGITAL LINE called "Wonder of Christmas" and "Joy To The World". I used GIMP to change colors, sizes and manipulate my images to make it the way I needed it. The colors IRL really do match better than in the photo. Sorry. I embossed the wasabi cs layer (panel 2A) with Cuttlebugs Hollies & Berries folder then colored the berries with a copic marker to match cajun craze. I added some stickles to the snowflakes and the snow line on panel 2B wit the deer image. My sentiment layer is up on dimensionals and the bookmark behind it has a small piece of 2 sided tape that will peel off when teh book mark is removed. Despite my lack of desire to get started on Christmas these colors, like last weeks, scream for this theme. Have a fabulous Wednesday all my cyber friends. mmwwaahh.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Wonder of Christmas, Joy To The World - Treehouse Stamps digital line
Paper: white, baja breeze, wild wasabi
Accessories: copics, stickles, ribbon, ticket corner punch, slot punch, CB, Hollies & Berries EF

Sugar Nellie Cowgirl

This is for today's COLOR CHALLENGE # 289 - Baja Cajun Wasabis with dessert of stripes. I already had this darling image from Sugar Nellie colored and the colors fit. Whoo Hoo, I love it when that happens. I used copics to color her then cut out of the Nestie using Labels 4. I also embossed with the Nestie. I sponged some baja breeze around the top and side and wild wasabi around the bottom with the Nestie in place. I love the horse head sticking out. Too cute! My focal panel is up on dimensionals. I also sponged some baja breeze on my basic grey dp stipes piece as well. My strip across is Cajun craze punched with Fiskars lattice border matted on top of wild wasabi cs and topped with some white hemp.

Pumpkins A Plenty Name Place Tags

This is for today's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 291 - Tag, you're it. I also combined it with today's CLEAN AND SIMPLE CHALLENGE # 85 - Fall Colors.
OK so when I say tags I thought about name tags for Thanksgiving Dinner. I have never made those and thought it might be fun this year. This is just a start but they were so simple to make. I used a single layer of vanilla cs for my base with a printed image from a new set to be released Oct 1st called "Pumpkins A Plenty". I used GIMP to manipulate my image replacing the sentiment in the sign. I used my xacto knife to cut around the top of the bears head and folded it over. I colored with copics and LOVE how these turned out. That is one thing I absolutely love about digitals is you can change the size to fit the need. Now off to work.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Pumpkins A Plently - Treehouse Stamps Digital Line
Paper: vanilla
Accessories: copics
Techniques: copic coloring, name place tags

The open letters of U, R and I are from a new digi alpha number set coming out Oct 1st from TREEHOUSE STAMPS DIGITAL LINE. The apple image is a free digital image for this month's contest by TREEHOUSE STAMPS SEPTEMBER FREE DIGI CONTEST. Farm Fever - U Cured Yet?

This is for today's SKETCH CHALLENGE # 298. I used Tuesday's COLOR CHALLENGE # 288 - Blushing Artichoke Mists for my color combo.
I also tried again and failed again for my last attempt at Monday's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 290 - Lace Sponging. I found an old dollie and tried to press my versa mark pad heavy enough on my marina mist cs to pick up the impression from the dollie but it obviously did NOT work like I hoped but I sponged some brocade blue chalk on the design anyway. It ended up looking like dots. So I embossed the blushing bride layer with my new cuttlebug polka dot embossing folder to match.
My image is from Stampin' Up's retired Farm Fever set that my dh just loves. He get's tickled every time he sees this image. I used copics to color. I can always use a get well card.
Have a fabulous Wednesday.

Halloween Costume Bear

This is for today's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 290 - Lace Sponging provided by Joan. Whey I sure am glad that border punching was an alternative as I have no lace I am willing to get ink all over. So I punched my new MS large lacey border and sponged some Dew Drop Mango on Peach Parfait, topped that off with some clear embossing powder and heat set it.
I also used last Wednesday's SKETCH CHALLENGE # 297. My color combo is from last Tuesday's COLOR CHALLENGE # 287 - Concord Parfait Pizzazz. Thanks to these colors I am almost finished with this years Halloween stack. I am still using Recollections Halloween dp and I hope you are not tired of seeing it bc I love it. Have I mentioned that yet? Well I do!
I stamped this darling witchy bear in tuxedo black then colored with copics and topped the stars off with some stickles. Then I cut and embossed the focal panel and matt using Nesties Label 1. I sponged some tea dye antinque distressing ink around the focal image while still in the Nestie. Love the antique look it gives. Hope you do too. Now off to work.

Autumn Blessings

This is for today's FEATURED STAMPER # 188 - Die Cut Diva (aka Terri). I did not have to go far to find one that I wanted to CASE. I chose Terri's THINKING OF YOU MOJO SKETCH to CASE. I changed the layout to use Friday's FREE 4 ALL CHALLENGE # 29 - Circles and Rectangles. I changed the colors to Tuesday's COLOR CHALLENGE # 287 - Concord Parfait Pizzazz. While browsing the challenge after a hot day in the sun Saturday I found this darling SET OF WITCH VOLTIVE HOLDERS from Saturday's INSPIRATION CHALLENGE # 249 - Cost Plus World Market site that Stephanie gave us to use and it all just came together. I love it when a plan comes together.
I cut, embossed and sponged with pumpkin pie 2 sizes of the Nestie Pumpkins then used my copics to create some dimension. My dp is from Recollections Halloween stack that I absolutely love. Alana's 1st parade - Pepper Festival in Omega

Alana (facing the camera with her majic wand pointing up) got to march in her very 1st parade today in her home town Pepper Festival. We stood on the road side waiting, sweating and watching for my darling 1st grandchild and realizing how very fast she is growing up right before my eyes. Sorta scary.

Here is another snap of her waving her majic wand.

Here is Madison going down the slide, she and Brayden must have made 15 trips up and down that crazy thing. You can barely see Brayden behind Madison but he is there, he was just too quick to get a picture of .

Shannon was in charge of the camera during the parade and just had to take a picture of these darling little cars being driven by kids she knew. Are they adorable or what?

My New Flooring

Well I promised some pics when me new flooring was in and things settled so now I have some for you. WOW it is so amazing how much different it makes me feel about the rooms and my house. I love them. What do you think?

OK so this was my 1st dissappointment of this adventure. I was upstairs trying to get my crafty cave in order so I could play in the challenges while the guys were downstairs working in my master bathroom. They went to lunch I when I came downstairs this is what I found. The flooring on the left is what they had laid in my bathroom, the flooring on the right is what was already in the master bedroom laid about 5 yrs ago. These 2 rooms join each other and I am standing in the doorway taking this shot. Do you notice anything? Check out the direction of the patterns. I started to cry. They were already putting the shoe molding back around the edges. After they returned from lunch and I let them know how upset I was he admitted that he had placed flooring in this way before to save on materials and should have consulted with me. He wanted me to think about it overnight after Jessie got home and checked it out. If I still wanted it replaced he would do so.

Jessie got home and instantly said "why didn't they just go ahead and replace it, I do not want this left like this, I want the patterns to match". So they did, they took it up and made it right. Man does it look better.

Now that was more like it. ONce again I had a smile on my face. I love it.

I love it when a contractor gives you a quote and then sticks with it. I wrote a check for the exact same amount as the quote so I was really smiling then. Last time 5 yrs ago the quote and the end result was $5000. NOT at all happy with that. More pics of my crafty cave below but I am still trying to get it in order.

I used some images I have had for yrs from Hambo Stamps and cut around the witch hat and broom before trimming and embossing with Nesties Circles. I sponged some black around the witch panel and tea dye distressing ink around the cat image. My dp is retired SU ghostly Greeings Halloween dp. Hope you like it and have a fabulous Friday.

Haunted Halloween House

This is for today's SKETCH CHALLENGE # 297 and Tuesday's COLOR CHALLENGE # 287 - Concord Parfait Pizzazz.
I can not believe I am able to play again today. YEAH! Those 2 guys really worked on those floors upstairs and got them both done so you know I started moving things back into place in my craft room. I found just enough to play today. It will still take all weekend to get it all in order but at least I can play. Yippee.
Anyway since I had already found my Recollections Halloween dp stack Tuesday I decided to go for it and make a spook card. TeeHee. I love this haunted house stamp set from Stampin' Up. I stamped the images in Tuxedo black then colored the focal image with copics and sponged around both stamped images with tea dye distressing ink. I used all 3 colors of cs along with the dp. Love how this turned out and hope you do too but mostly just happy I could play. I go through DT's when I can not play in the challenges. I get all glary eyed, my hands twist into knots, my eyebrows tilt, and my mouth droops :(
Hope everyone has a fantastic day.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Haunted House - SU
Paper: Concord Grape, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, white, Recollections - Halloween
Ink: tuxedo black, tea dye distressing ink
Accessories: dimensionals, copics

Hang In There

This is for today's COLOR CHALLENGE # 297 - Concord Parfait Pizzazz. My layout is from Monday's MOJO MONDAY # 155. I have not played in a SCS since last Tuesday :0 due to my play room being packed up and I can not get to anything. The workers are here now tearing up the carpet and laying down my new floor. Ohh I can not wait to take some pics so you can see it. Anyway this will more than likely be my very last time of playing in the challenges until sometime next week, oh no what am I going to do?
I resisted the temptation to make a halloween card with these darling colors and used this adorable image I purchased a few wks ago from Digi Doodles. Is this little guy cute or what? I love it. I used my copics to color, Nesties circles to cut and emboss and then sponged the edges with some Antique linen distressing ink. My 3 panels are pear pizzazz, peach parfait and concord grape cs strips. The dp at the bottom is from Recollections last year Halloween do stack. Some concord ribbon to cover the seams and matted on some vanilla cs base. HOpe you like it.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Hang On - DD
Paper: peach parfait, pear pizzazz, concord grape, vanilla, white
Ink: anitque linen
Accessories: ribbon, Nesties Circle
Techniques: distress sponging

Dragonfly Thank You

Happy Friday and TGIF. I am so glad it finally arrived. Jessie and I are headed out of town early tomorrow morning. We normally head to the beach at least 5-6 times from March thru October but I think this year we have made it 3 times. Last attempt was foiled by Tropical Storm Bonnie as me made it to St.George Island just to turn around and head back home 2 hrs later when the heavy rains did not appear to be letting up.
I am a firm believer in staying away from the coast when there is a threat of evacuation. Residents do not need tourist when evacuations are going on.
Anyway we are going to attempt it again tomorrow in spite of Earl and Fiona that is behind Earl.
Anyway onto my card. I used some basic gray dp and some banana, vanilla and brown cs.
My image is a darling dragonfly from PRISCILLA STYLES digital images that I colored with copics then topped off with some stickles. I love how the stickles shimmered in light. It made the wings look irridescant. I sponged some antique linen around my image after trimming and embossing with Nesties Circle.
My color combo is from CRAFT DIGITAL ART CENTER COLOR CHALLENGE # 5. My layout is from MIDNIGHT MADNESS SKETCH CHALLENGE # 69. I used some browwn ribbon and topped it with a yellow button threaded with some gold cording. My brown cs layer was embossed with Herringbone. Hope you like it. I also hope everyone has a safe, dry, and happy Labor Day. I will be back Tuesday morning.
Next week is going to be in disarray as my carpet is being taken up and replaced with wood pattern linoleum. Whoo Hoo, can't wait but I really can not wait to get my craft room back together. I can not find anything bc it has all been packed up for over a week now.

THT065 Bunch of Apples in a Circle

This is for today's Treehouse Thursday Challenge # 065 - Circle Cards. These can be so fun and just make for some interesting interpretations from the various style artists.
I used this month's free Digital image from TREEHOUSE STAMPS Blog site for my card.

I used GIMP to manipulate my image by layering them in a bunch. I colored with copics to match my dp from DCWV Back To School. My base is white as is my focal panel. I used my circled scallops for a matt over the white base. To see what the rest of the DT made for this challenge visit thier blogs by clicking their names:

September Free Digi & Contest

I made this using this month's free Digital image for the monthly contest that goes on over at the Treehouse Stamps Blog. I printed the 3 apples and colored them with copics R24, R27, R29, YG03, YG05, and YG06. I trimmed some gable green cs with a Martha Steward border punch. Hope you like it. Now onto the contest.
